Ministry of Law Enforcement

The Ministry of Law Enforcement (abbreviated MLE) is a ministry of the Federal Republic of Newport. The ministry is headed by the Minister of Law Enforcement as a member of the Cabinet of Newport.

The current minister is DK3458. They were appointed by President Talion77 on July 21st, 2026.

History

The ministry was first formed when President Talion77 provided his assent to the Ministries Act on July 21 2026. Not long after, he appointed DK3458 as the first Minister of Law Enforcement.

Responsibilities

The Ministries Act tasks the ministry with the following responsibilities:

  • Conducting policing of the Realm and its territories inline with Federal law.
  • Criminally prosecuting entities for violations of Federal Law.
  • Defending the realm in lawsuits against it.
  • Handling the investigation of crimes inline with Court orders.

Structure

The ministry contains several subdepartments, each consisting of its own leadership and staff.

Ministry Leadership

Minister: Serves at the pleasure of the Chancellor. They lead the Ministry by appointing its leadership and approving and creating policy changes.

General Directorate of Security

General Director of Security: Serves at the pleasure of the Minister. They manage the day-to-day operations of the General Directorate of Security (GDS), in addition to the hiring and firing processes.

Commissioner: The Commissioner is a leadership position inside the GDS. They are involved in hiring and firing, disciplinary actions, and heading a station—if multiple stations exist.

Inspector: The Inspector is a senior role inside the GDS. They are involved in the training and supervision of Cadets, and have the power to request Warrants from the Judiciary.

Constable: The Constable has passed training as a Cadet and operate fully independently, conducting arrests, the impounding of vehicles, asset seizure, and maintaining the peace.

Cadet: The Cadet is the initial role at the GDS. Cadets undergo training and conduct supervised arrests.

Litigation Office

Lead Prosecutor: The Lead Prosecutor is the Head of the Litigation Office (LO). They manage the day-to-day operations of the LO and are involved in hiring and firing decisions for their department. They may also appoint or remove prosecutors from cases in which the Government is involved.

Senior Prosecutor: The Senior Prosecutor is a leadership position inside the LO. They have a lot of experience and are involved in important decisions, like the hiring and firing processes and case assignments. They also train and supervise Trainee Prosecutors.

Prosecutor: The Prosecutor has passed their training as Trainee Prosecutor and is able to operate on their own. They get assigned cases and represent the Government in court.

Trainee Prosecutor: The Trainee Prosecutor is the initial role when being hired into the LO. They undergo a training program and work on supervised cases to eventually prepare for their promotion to full Prosecutor.
