Staff Voting Bylaws

This document henceforth defines the abilities of each rank of staff and what they can vote on. For the purpose of allowing all staff to be equal and not instantly overpowered by other high ranking staff, each staff shall only ever have one vote in a matter that they are able to vote in, no matter the rank or status. In the case of a tie it shall be up to the Founders on how that tie is broken via vote amongst themselves.

1. Votes
   1. Unless explicitly specified otherwise all staff votes shall require a majority (more than half) of staff who can vote on the vote in favour to pass.
   2. All staff votes shall only last 72h, where if the vote is tied at the end of 72h then the SPO shall have the ability to tie break as defined in §3 of this document. If a vote does not reach at least a majority of staff who can vote on the vote in favour after 72h then the vote shall fail. If a majority of the staff who can vote on the vote vote against it then it shall instantly fail.
2. Amendments
   1. For the purpose of allowing all staff to have their voice heard, and to prevent overreach by senior staff, this document shall be an official document, overridden by none.
   2. This document shall only ever be amended via majority vote of all staff or majority vote of all Admins, System Admins, Senior Admins, and Founders.
3. Staff Presiding Officer
   1. There shall be a staff member called the “Staff Presiding Officer” who is elected every 2 months (January, March, May, July, September, November), the election shall be held between the Senior Administrators, Systems Administrators, and Founders, where only the Senior Administrators, Systems Administrator, and Founders may vote and declare for the position. The election shall use the format of Instant Runoff Voting (“IRV”).
   2. The Staff Presiding Officer may also be referred to as the “SPO” in this and other staff documents.
   3. The SPO’s job is to manage and preside over staff votes. If there is ever a tie on a staff vote the SPO shall have the deciding vote, if the SPO does not break the tie within 48h of the tie then the vote shall be declared failed.
   4. The SPO is only to base every decision relating to votes (besides voting themselves and breaking ties) based on the facts and information given in official staff documents and not personal opinion or ideals.
   5. If at any time there isn't an SPO emergency elections for an SPO shall be held via the same method as normal elections for SPO.
4. Founders
   1. Founders must be able to vote on the following:
      1. Hiring new staff members
      2. Removing staff members
      3. Amending this document
      4. Changing staff policy
      5. Promoting staff
      6. Demoting staff
      7. Issuing a major staff veto
      8. Decisions regarding the server and server changes
      9. Any other vote
5. Senior Administrators
   1. Senior Administrators must be able to vote on the following:
      1. Hiring new staff members
      2. Removing staff members
      3. Amending this document
      4. Changing staff policy
      5. Promoting staff up to Administrators
      6. Demoting staff up to Senior Administrators and System Administrators
      7. Issuing a major staff veto
      8. Decisions regarding the server and server changes
      9. Any other vote
6. Systems Administrators
   1. System Administrators must be able to vote on the following:
      1. Hiring new staff members
      2. Removing staff members
      3. Amending this document
      4. Changing staff policy
      5. Promoting staff up to Administrators
      6. Demoting staff up to Senior Administrators and System Administrators
      7. Issuing a major staff veto
      8. Decisions regarding the server and server changes
      9. Any other vote
7. Administrators
   1. Administrators must be able to vote on the following:
      1. Hiring new staff members
      2. Removing staff members
      3. Amending this document
      4. Changing staff policy
      5. Promoting staff up to Moderators
      6. Demoting staff up to Moderators
      7. Issuing a major staff veto
      8. Decisions regarding the server and server changes
      9. Any other vote
8. Developers
   1. Developers must be able to vote on the following:
      1. Amending this document
      2. Changing staff policy that directly impacts their role
      3. Decisions regarding the server and server changes that concerns Developers
      4. Any other vote that concerns Developers
9. Moderators
   1. Moderators must be able to vote on the following:
      1. Amending this document
      2. Changing staff policy that directly impacts their role
      3. Decisions regarding the server and server changes that concerns Moderators
      4. Any other vote that concerns Moderators
10. Trial Moderators
    1. Trial Moderators must be able to vote on the following:
       1. Amending this document
       2. Changing staff policy that directly impacts their role
       3. Decisions regarding the server and server changes that concerns Trial Moderators
       4. Any other vote that concerns Trial Moderators
11. Advisors
    1. Advisors do not get a vote in any staff matter unless it directly affects them, this does not include amendments to this document.
