The President of Newport, officially known as the President of the Federal Republic of Newport is the Head of State of the Federal Republic of Newport.
History
The President of Newport was established by the Constitution of The Republic of Newport in July 2026. The First President, Talion77 was elected on July 15th, 2026.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Constitution gives the President the following duties and responsibilities:
- The President must sign bills signed by the National Assembly. They may refer the law to the Supreme Court for review if they believe it is wholly or partially unconstitutional, otherwise the President may not refuse to sign the law. The President may only refuse to sign a law passed by the Assembly if there is no Chancellor elected. However, the Assembly may insist the bill is enacted when a new Chancellor is elected.
