The '''President of Newport''', officially known as the '''President of the Federal Republic of Newport''' is the Head of State of the Federal Republic of Newport.

== History ==
The President of Newport was established by the Constitution of The Republic of Newport in July 2026. The First President, [[Talion77]] was elected on July 15th, 2026.

== Duties and Responsibilities ==
The Constitution gives the President the following duties and responsibilities:

* The President must sign bills signed by the National Assembly. They may refer the law to the Supreme Court for review if they believe it is wholly or partially unconstitutional, otherwise the President may not refuse to sign the law. The President may only refuse to sign a law passed by the Assembly if there is no Chancellor elected. However, the Assembly may insist the bill is enacted when a new Chancellor is elected.
* The President has the duty to nominate Justices, the Chief Justice, and Judges to vacancies on thje Supreme and Federal Courts. Each appointment is for a term of 8 months, but must be confirmed by a supermajority of the Assembly.
* The President is the chief diplomat of the Federal Republic of Newport, and must sign treaties between the Federal Republic of Newport and other sovereign nations before they are presented to the Assembly for ratification.
* The President has the responsibility to determine the symbols of Newport.
* The President has the power to determine public holidays.

== History ==
The Ministry was formed when President Talion77 assented to the Ministries Act on July 21st 2026. Shortly after, Amelia Rose was appointed as the first Minister of Administration and Finance.
